What am I doing here? I am here building a space, a platform where I represent my whole self.
I am currently an economics major and my side hustle (only for the while I’m still in university because I plan to join the industry professionally) is what you’re reading right now— fashion research and blogs.
What I do is write about fashion, not just at the forefront but with the metaphor engraved into the industry. I resonate fashion with poetry and that is what I *try* to embed and represent in my writing.
I was never much of a writing girlie, I’m gonna be honest here. What piqued my interest was poetry, back in 10th to 12th grade, I started to want to understand the depth behind the sentences that were printed in my courses’ book. Nothing is as monotonous as ‘white and black’ is what I understood from these poems that held a deeper essence to them, the lives we inherit are a million hues of a gradient— a gradient we decide it to be. So with this vague “want” of mine, I started to resonate everything with depth, a deeper meaning and that is how I started seeing fashion— which is why I REALLY love writing about couture shows. Soon enough I started *actually* writing— other than random spillovers of my feelings in the form of poetry— and voiced my work here for the first time back in August 2023.
I am also learning how to make clothes because someone very close and important to me kept motivating me to keep my ‘fear of failure’ aside and to keep learning and trying new things. “The opposite of success is not failure, it is mediocrity”, is what he said and this is what keeps me and my audacity on the roll.
Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you, build them yourself, for yourself— and when these opportunities that you were so desperate for finally come to you, grab them, learn even more, and transform what you learn into something you can proudly take ownership for— and well, don’t let it end just there, make this into an endless cycle of learning, grabbing, transforming and learning again.
All of us have got some sort of mythical creature in ourselves, what we gotta do is hone that being with our tenacity to achieve the goals we wanna achieve. No one in this world has power enough to eradicate your dreams, only you do— your journey in life is yours alone, and you decide the path and the destination. Those who complain of their conditions are plagued by the most dangerous disease of this existence— having immense skill issues and an unfathomable loser mindset. I had this disease and I overcame it, and so can you. Keep learning things, put them on a bewildering show— in the best way possible— for the world to see and commemorate it, keep striving, and in what you achieve, thrive.
Life is dynamic and huge so there’s no point in being static and minuscule, own the space you reside in and learn to dominate it;)
